Originally built in 1848, this Danish Windmill was
purchased from a little town called Norre Snede, Denmark
in 1975, dismantled, shipped across the ocean, and
reassembled in Elk Horn, Iowa by a team of 300
volunteers, taking just over one year to fully resurrect
it. Today it is one of the largest ethnic tourist
attractions in Iowa.
