Heritage and innovation: A winning combo Heritage with a Green Twist "Danish Roots - Growing Green"
In February of 2010 a small contingency from the Danish American Village of Elk Horn Iowa went to Denmark to study their Green technology. They toured the Energy Island of Samsø and their famous Energy Academy and also the Island of Lolland and Thy in the northern part of Jyllands and toured their Nordic Energy Folkcenter. Elk Horn always being forward thinkers and are in hopes to model some of Elk Horn’s energy initiatives like Denmark. Planning is in progress to have an Energy Academy like Denmark where students can come and learn about Denmark’s energy knowledge as they are the leader in Green Technology and have put their theories to practice.
Elk Horn boasts having the first Electric Car charging stations between Denver and Chicago in preparation for all the new electric cars scheduled to come out on the market and also in the planning for establishing them all along Interstate 80. Private business Iron Eagle Technology is currently working with helping a Danish Solar company in entering the American market.

Iron Eagle Technologies / Windmill / Elk Horn Station / Tivoli Inn and Suites motel - installation of the first publicly available EV charging stations in Iowa in 2009. The Windmill has two Electric charging stations.
