The duo Jensen & Bugge have played together for 15 years, despite their young age. They have been touring in the States for 9 years. When they play as a trio, they?re joined by accordion player, Dwight Lamb of Onawa, Iowa. In February 2016, they?ll be back on the road together, touring in the Midwest and in Elk Horn February 19th.

Dwight?s grandfather, Chris Jerup, immigrated from Vendsyssel in the north of Denmark to Iowa in 1893. He was the son of the legendary musician, Kræn Jerup, who played both fiddle and diatonic accordion. Chris brought a large repertoire of Danish folk music with him to the States. When Chris sold his farm and retired, he moved in with the then 12-year-old Dwight and his parents. This gave Dwight the opportunity to learn his grandfather?s Danish repertoire.

At 19 years old, Dwight began playing the violin, ?over the top? with his left hand. He was unable to change the strings around as it was his father?s violin. For years, Dwight has been a great musician and the American old-time music has been his specialty. He has taught and inspired many young musicians, and few knew he played the single-rowed diatonic accordion.

Dwight recorded a couple of Danish accordion pieces on his fiddle CDs. Those CDs eventually ended up in Denmark and that?s where Kristian Bugge and Mette Kathrine Jensen first heard of Dwight. Eight years ago, they managed to set up a meeting at a festival in Minnesota. Since then, they have played together many times. In May 2010, Dwight went to Denmark for the first time and went on tour as a trio with Jensen & Bugge. Parts of the concerts from that tour were recorded and in June 2011, the CD ?Dwight Lamb, Jensen & Bugge: Live in Denmark 2010?, was released in the United States by Missouri Valley Music and in Denmark by

The three kept playing and toured both in Denmark and the Midwest United States. Since the first CD was released, Dwight has remembered so many old Dane tunes from his grandfather?s repertoire and taught them to Kristian and Mette. They?ve recorded a new live album in 2014, just in time for the United States tour and Dwight?s 80th birthday. In the dark and cold days of February 2016 they meet up again for a Midwinter tour to Elk Horn, Iowa and the Midwest.

Sponsored by the 130 year old Danish Mutual Insurance ASSN. on Friday, February 19th the trio will be performing at the Elk Horn, IA Fire Station from 5-7. The local EH-K Optimist Club will be hosting a Soup Supper from 5 to 7 to raise funds for local High School Scholarships. This will be a free will offering with support funds from Thrivent.
