Description
The little Church Owl keeps warm in his feathered suit as he watches over the skyline of the Copenhagen and listens to the bells of the Church of Our Lady from his nook at the old Copenhagen University. He pays close attention as Copenhageners flock from the busy streets of the city centre to enter the quietness of the grand church to enjoy the silence and revel in the beauty of the lavish sculptures by Bertel Thorvaldsen. The Annual Plates have been issued every year since 1908. The relief for the motif has been hand-cut by Royal Copenhagen;’s talented modelling artists based on a drawing of the motif by artist, Allan Therkelsean, and the plate has been cut according to the proud craftsmanship traditions. Allan Therkelsen has also created this year’s Bell, Drop and Figurine.
