Description
The beautiful swans should also be taken care of on Christmas Eve, thinks the little girl to herself, as she and her father feed Denmark’s national birds by the old Peblinge Lake. The lake once served as part of Copenhagen’s defence and water supply. Nowadays it is just a beautiful setting and when it freezes over it is perfect for ice-skating. The Lake Pavilion sits in the background built for the capital’s Skating Association in 1894. The motif of this year’s Royal Copenhagen Plate also appears on the cup, the bell and the drop. Allan Therkelsen who designed the plate has also sculpted the accompanying figure who of course is the little girl from the motive.
